Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook, “How To Tell Your Story In A Noisy Social World” A review of Gary Vaynerchuck’s New Book.

“All companies are media companies!”  That’s the title of the tenth chapter in Gary Vaynerchuck’s book Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook  “How To Tell Your Story In A Noisy Social World”.  As a small business owner you may not understand such an audacious statement by Mr. Vaynerchuck. You offer services or sell products all day.  Your idea of media is the local radio or newspaper trying to sell you an ad.  You have a Facebook page for your business and the latest post is seven months old.

Technology has given the power of publishing to the masses.  Newspaper is no longer the boss on print.  Radio no longer owns the corner on audio and broadcast television does not dominate video.  You own all the media now!  On your computer, right now, you can create a podcast, write a blog and create your own video commercial. You can distribute your content through various social mediums to an audience that wants to hear you.

Consider the following example.  A local newspaper in Eastern West Virginia has a print circulation of 15,809 homes.  The paper has been in existence close to a century.  In late 2013 three moms begin a blogging website  In one year, these ladies have amassed a circulation of 37,214, using just five social media platforms.

Gary gives the universal formula on how to use social media to generate sales; Give! 

Let’s be honest, many people don’t really use social media because they don’t see the money at the end of the social trail.
